Boston Scientific launches Charger PTA Balloon Catheter for angioplasty

13th December 2011

Boston Scientific has announced the launch of the Charger PTA Balloon Catheter, which is designed for use in a range of peripheral angioplasty procedures.

The new 0.035-inch percutaneous transluminal angioplasty balloon catheter is the third device of its kind introduced by the company in the last year and is optimised for post-stent dilatation, as well as conventional balloon angioplasty.

It can help to open blocked peripheral arteries using high-rated burst pressures of up to 20 ATM, rapid deflation and a low lesion entry profile, while it is also available in a wide range of sizes.

The launch will help to strengthen the company's position as a global leader in the peripheral angioplasty balloons market, complementing its existing portfolio of interventional devices.

Jeff Mirviss, president of Boston Scientific's peripheral interventions division, said: "The Charger PTA Balloon Catheter is designed to deliver results in both routine and challenging cases."

Earlier this month, the company announced the launch of extended warranty options on a number of its cardiac rhythm management products, thanks to improvements in the longevity of the products.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801237720-ADNFCR
