Boston Scientific launches new balloon catheter
Boston Scientific has launched its new Sterling SL PTA Balloon Dilatation Catheter for peripheral angioplasty procedures in Europe.
The medical device is a high-performance balloon dilatation catheter for use in operations performed below the knee, offering rapid deflation time and a low tip profile.
Its length options have been tailored specifically with the needs of surgeons performing below-the-knee operations in mind and follows on from previous Sterling catheter products such as Sterling ES.
Joe Fitzgerald, senior vice-president and president of Boston Scientific’s endovascular unit, said this launch supports the firm’s efforts to provide “the most complete set of high-performance peripheral intervention devices”.
He added: “The Sterling family is the world’s best selling line of low-profile peripheral angioplasty balloon catheters and this expanded offering will help reinforce its reputation.”
Earlier this month, the company received European CE Mark ratification for Taxus Element, a new paclitaxel-eluting coronary stent system for diabetes sufferers.
