Boston Scientific launches new LithoVue digital flexible ureteroscope
Boston Scientific has announced the launch of its new LithoVue single-use digital flexible ureteroscope for minimally invasive endoscopic procedures.
Releasing in the US and Europe, the device is intended for use in the diagnosis and treatment stones and other conditions of the kidney, ureter and bladder.
It has been optimised to address the inconsistent performance, operational challenges and costs associated with the reusable scopes that are currently used most commonly, as these require maintenance, sterilisation and reprocessing.
The device provides high-quality digital visualisation capabilities and seamless navigation to ensure consistent clinical performance, while overcoming challenges such as unpredictable scope repairs, reprocessing, sterilisation and degradation of scope performance over time.
Karen Prange, senior vice-president and president for urology and pelvic health at Boston Scientific, said: "The LithoVue System is an example of how we are focused on addressing unmet needs by providing urologists and hospitals a predictable, cost-effective, minimally invasive endoscope for the management of kidney stones."
This comes after the firm received EU and US regulatory approval for its new AngioJet ZelanteDVT thrombectomy catheter last month.
