Boston Scientific reports further growth in Q4 2013

5th February 2014

Boston Scientific has published its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2013, during which it generated a three-month sales total of $1.84 billion (1.13 billion pounds).

This represents a five percent year-on-year operational revenue increase, or a one percent rise on a reported basis. The firm's earnings per share also rose compared to Q4 2012.

During the quarter, the company saw strong performances from its neuromodulation, MedSurg and cardiac rhythm management divisions, while double-digit growth was achieved in emerging markets. Positive regulatory decisions were also received for its Watchman, Promus Premier, X4 and Lotus Valve products.

For the full-year period, sales came to $7.14 billion, up by two percent on an operational basis. Revenue for 2014 is expected to be within the range of $7.3 billion to $7.5 billion.

Mike Mahoney, president and chief executive officer of Boston Scientific, said: "This marks our third consecutive quarter of accelerated operational revenue growth and we look forward to continued improvement of our annual sales and earnings performance in 2014."

This comes in the same week the company announced the US launch and first use of its new OffRoad Re-Entry Catheter System, for the treatment of complete arterial blockages in the legs.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801690447-ADNFCR
