Boston Scientific study shows benefits of HeartLogic diagnostic tool
Boston Scientific has announced new clinical data showing predictive benefits offered by its HeartLogic Heart Failure Diagnostic.
Results from the MultiSENSE study have shown that the HeartLogic diagnostic was able to accurately enhance the ability to classify patients at high or low risk of experiencing a future heart failure event.
HeartLogic offers continuous measurement of heart failure by combining data from sensors evaluating heart sounds, respiration rate and volume, thoracic impedance, heart rate and activity.
This study showed that the diagnostic tool offers considerable benefits when added to the currently recommended standard blood test assessment, which can only offer a snapshot view of the patient's condition that loses relevance over time.
Dr Kenneth Stein, senior vice-president and chief medical officer of global health policy and rhythm management at Boston Scientific, said: "Our commitment to innovation in heart failure remains steadfast, and we look forward to seeing continued results of the alert in a clinical setting."
The HeartLogic Diagnostic was approved for use within the Resonate family of implantable cardioverter defibrillator and cardiac resynchronisation therapy defibrillator systems earlier this year, with the new line of devices to become commercially available soon.
