Bristol-Myers Squibb becomes LabCentral platinum sponsor
Bristol-Myers Squibb has become a platinum sponsor to LabCentral, which aims to promote life sciences and biotech start-ups.
The agreement means Bristol-Myers Squibb can nominate two of the most innovative companies in this field every year to occupy space in LabCentral's facilities in Kendall Square.
Johannes Fruehauf, co-founder and president of LabCentral, commented: "We are thrilled to welcome Bristol-Myers Squibb to Kendall Square and excited to have it join LabCentral's growing roster of global-company sponsors."
He said it is clear that LabCentral's operating model – with nascent companies being given access to functional units of space and a supportive environment – is "meeting a resounding need in the marketplace".
Mr Fruehauf added that its residents who are working to move early-stage science from the lab bench toward clinical trials will gain "valuable insights" by interacting regularly with experienced specialists from Bristol-Myers Squibb.
"But we believe it's a symbiotic relationship; this partnership will enable Bristol-Myers Squibb to benefit from proximity and better access to our entrepreneurs as well as LabCentral alumni and others working in some of the region's most exciting life-sciences start-ups," he said.
