Calcivis Secures £5 Million for Dental Preventative Device
Located in Edinburgh, Calcivis has secured £5 million in a financing round to deploy its dental technology to the market.
The company’s device specialises in the early identification of tooth decay by using a biological diagnostic substance in conjunction with an imaging tool.
Calcivis has the objective of transforming early-stage diagnostics in the dental field. The device utilises bioluminescence to identify problematic areas before tooth decay becomes irreversible.
Calvis’ leading chief officer, Adam Christie, stated, “Early diagnosis and treatment of tooth decay is essential, allowing patients to reverse the damage to their teeth before it is too late.”
Christie went on to add, “This technology has the potential to revolutionise prevention in oral health care, with cavities impacting more than two billion people globally, according to the World Health Organisation.”
