Cardinal Health announces appointment of new board member

Cardinal Health has announced the recruitment of a new member to its board of directors.

James Mongan will take up the new post immediately and will serve on the audit committee of the board, the medical products company revealed.

Mr Mongan is the co-author of a recently published book, entitled Chaos and Organisation in HealthCare, and has received several awards and industry recognition.

This includes being named by Modern Healthcare as the most powerful physician executive of 2008, after making its top ten list every year since 2004.

George Barrett, chairman and chief executive officer of Cardinal Health, said: “His broad range of healthcare experience as a physician, business leader and policy maker will no doubt provide a unique and insightful perspective to Cardinal Health’s business strategy.”

In other Cardinal Health news, the organisation launched the Connect System earlier this month – a facility designed to assist medical organisations in better controlling their supply expenses.
