Cardinal Health makes another acquisition
Cardinal Health has acquired the pharmaceutical wholesale businesses of F. Dohmen.
F. Dohmen is described as the fifth largest pharmaceutical distributor in the US, with a turnover of $1.7 billion. It serves some 2,400 pharmacies and drug chain shops in various areas of the US. The amount paid by Cardinal for the business was not disclosed.
A statement from Cardinal read: “With this acquisition, Cardinal Health has enhanced its wide range of products and services for the independent retail pharmacy market.”
“The organisations’ complementary capabilities will help independent retail pharmacies continue to improve their operations and grow,” it added.
Mark Parrish, Cardinal’s president and chief operating officer of supply chain services for pharmaceuticals, remarked: “F. Dohmen Wholesale is a good fit with Cardinal Health as we continue to build the industry?s best global supply chain for pharmacy customers.”
The F. Dohmen business includes subsidiaries such as Jascorp, a pharmacy technology company, prescription management and logistics divisions. It business employs approximately 480 employees.
Last month, Cardinal Health bought Denver Medical, a company specialising in fluid drainage from terminally-ill patients, often with cancer. Like the F. Dohmen acquisition, the terms of the buyout were not revealed.
Cardinal Health employs over 55,000 staff across the world, with approximately 600 in Swindon, Wiltshire.
