Carestream Dental showcases CS 3500 at AAOMS 2014
Carestream Dental has showcased the benefits of its new intraoral scanner the CS 3500 at the American Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) annual meeting.
The event in Hawaii gave the company an opportunity to give oral surgeons firsthand experience of the device, which allows users to easily acquire true colour 2D and 3D images to help distinguish tooth structure and existing restorations from soft tissue.
Bite registration is virtually automatic and requires little to no manipulation of the resulting images, while its precise performance, high-quality results and lack of need for an external heater, powder or trolley system are also advantageous.
Moreover, it offers compatibility with open-system CAD software, meaning it functions just as well as a standalone solution as it does as part of the integrated CS Solutions CAD/CAM portfolio.
Ed Shellard, chief commercial officer of Carestream Dental, said: "This entry into the OMS market is a relatively new development, and Carestream Dental is dedicated to ensuring that the scanner meets the unique needs of oral surgeons."
The CS 3500 has already been recognised by Dentistry Today as one of the top 100 products of the year.
