Celgene names new European regional president
Celgene has announced the appointment of Tuomi Patsi as president of its business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
In this new role, Mr Patsi will be tasked with will overseeing the company's current regional portfolio, as well as international efforts related to its pipeline of clinical programmes in areas such as immunotherapy, epigenetics, ubiquitin ligase targets, cancer metabolism and others.
He has been with the firm for more than seven years, most recently serving as Celgene's corporate vice-president for the south Europe region.
Meanwhile, Dr Alan Colowick – who has acted as EMEA president for Celgene since 2012 – has returned to the US to take on another senior strategic position for the company.
Mr Patsi said: "It is a very exciting time for Celgene as we continue to deliver cutting-edge medicines to the many thousands of patients with life-threatening rare or debilitating diseases across the region."
The firm expects to achieve double-digit growth in 2014 after recording better-than-expected financial results during the 2013 business year.
