Ceva launches new feline parasiticide Vectra Felis
Ceva has announced the launch of a new antiparasitic agent called Vectra Felis, a topical ectoparasiticide for use in domestic cats.
Following on from last year's launch of the canine product Vectra 3D, the new ectoparasiticide combines two active ingredients – dinotefuran, which kills on contact, and the insect growth regulator (IGR) pyriproxyfen, which prevents flea reproduction and adult parasite emergence.
It can be administered as a spot-on via its patented applicator, which features an elongated smooth tip for quick and easy application, facilitating the process of reaching the cat's skin through the fur.
Animals can be treated from seven weeks of age, and the IGR can last for three months, thus breaking the flea lifecycle and offering long-term protection.
The company said: "Containing a unique formulation of two active ingredients … Vectra Felis ensures that over 95 percent of fleas are killed within just two hours and the effects last for a full month."
Ceva recently concluded an advertising push for its veterinary behaviour product Feliway, which ran from Christmas Day 2014 until January 11th 2015. Vectra Felis is the latest in a wide range of products for promoting cat health from Ceva.
