Ceva launches new Libeo heart failure therapy for dogs

28th July 2015

Ceva Animal Health has announced the launch of Libeo, the latest addition to its growing cardio-nephrology range.

The palatable new furosemide treatment is designed for the management of heart failure in dogs. It features a chicken-flavoured four-way break tablet, making it easy for owners to dose their pets.

Furosemide is the most frequently used treatment for the management of heart failure, helping to reduce pulmonary oedema with a quick onset of action and a noticeable reduction in clinical signs.

However, previous research indicated that 87 percent of vets in the UK believe that furosemide dosing for pets is adversely affected by how difficult it is to split the tablet – a problem that Libeo aims to address.

Rob McLintock, companion animal business unit manager at Ceva Animal Health, said: "Libeo is both easy to administer and effective, thereby improving owner compliance and the long-term health and welfare of their pets."

The firm's cardio-nephrology range already includes therapies such as Cardalis, Nelio and Prilactone.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801795751-ADNFCR
