CME Medical and Spark Impact announce Touchstone Medical investment

CME Medical has made a joint investment in Touchstone Medical, a specialist supplier of gynaecology and women's health solutions, in partnership with Spark Impact.

Based in Blackpool, the firm sources, supplies and supports products from leading global manufacturers such as Carl Zeiss UK, Schmitz and Gimmi, including in niche areas such as colposcopy and gynaecology endoscopy.

Products include the award-winning Medi-matic gynaecology couch, high-resolution HD endoscopic imaging systems and Gimmi-branded instruments for gynaecology surgeons. CME Holdings is now a majority shareholder in the firm, meaning Touchstone Medical and CME Medical are now sister companies.

It is hoped that CME Medical's strong existing infrastructure will provide Touchstone with executive-level expertise and administrative support, as well as access to pre-established routes to market.

John Carrington, managing director of CME Medical, said: "This latest development is part of a longer-term strategy to invest in like-minded, ambitious businesses that are a good fit with CME Medical in terms of their outlook, people, products and markets."

CME is the specialist infusion market leader, with more portable infusion products placed in the UK and Ireland than any other company.
