CME Medical hails success of Gutless Kayaker challenge

CME Medical has hailed the recent successful world record attempt by Justin Hansen, a British kayaker raising money for bowel cancer research.

Mr Hansen is known as the Gutless Kayaker due to the fact he had most of his intestines removed due to Crohn's disease, but he has overcome this to break the record for the longest trip spent living solely on artificial nutrition.

He kayaked 420 miles along the UK's inland waterways from Skipton to Bristol, relying on CME Medical's Bodyguard 323 Ambulatory Infusion Pump to provide him with constant parenteral nutrition.

In doing so, he was able to raise nearly 10,000 pounds for the St Mark's Hospital charitable foundation, while also giving hope to others who are affected by similar problems.

This comes after the firm helped hospices across the country to upgrade their ambulatory syringe drivers as part of Hospice Care Week, which took place earlier this month.
