Coca-Cola beverage ‘meets safety regulations’

Coca-Cola has said there is "no safety issue" concerning its orange beverage Fanta, following claims regarding the level of pesticides contained in it.

Tests on Coca-Cola drinks from 15 European counties to detect 100 kinds of pesticides found the products from the UK contained the highest levels in the study.

However, a spokesperson for the company said all the drinks included in the research meet safety regulations for food products which are made from agricultural ingredients – such as fruit juice.

"The generally miniscule levels that were detected were well within the acceptable daily intake levels and these findings should reassure consumers there is no safety issue here," the representative added.

Coca-Cola has also been in the news recently for its involvement in the UK government’s new anti-obesity campaign called Change4Life. The programme includes television adverts to encourage healthy eating and exercise, people in science sales jobs may be interested to know.
