Recently, Colgate has discovered that several of its products can neutralise the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19.

Colgate’s initial analysis, completed in October in collaboration with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School’s Public Health Research Institute and Regional Biosafety Laboratories, found that stannous zinc toothpaste and cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) mouthwash were successful in counteracting ninety-nine-point-nine per cent of the virus.

The study looked at ways to reduce oral viral load among affected patients and found that after half a minute, Colgate Total and Colgate Plax mouthwashes demonstrated similar efficacy, and also found that after 120 seconds of contact, Colgate Meridol and Total toothpaste were successful.
