Colgate-Palmolive names new board member
Colgate-Palmolive has announced the appointment of Michael Polk, president and chief executive officer of Newell Rubbermaid, as a member of its board of directors.
Mr Polk has considerable operational leadership experience and boasts in-depth knowledge of the rapidly evolving consumer goods industry. He has been with his current organisation since 2011 and became part of the Colgate board last week.
Prior to joining Newell Rubbermaid, he served as president for global foods, home and personal care at Unilever and head of Asia Pacific operations and the biscuits and snacks sector at Kraft. Additionally, Mr Polk was a member of the Kraft Foods management committee.
The company also confirmed this month that it is paying out quarterly cash dividends of $0.36 (21.19 pence) per common share on August 15th 2014, to shareholders of record on July 18th 2014.
Colgate-Palmolive has paid uninterrupted dividends on its common stock since 1895. It comes after it achieved an underlying organic sales growth rate of 6.5 percent during the first quarter of 2014.
