Coloplast states its stomas website is a success

2nd March 2009

Coloplast’s sponsored website that provides a platform for people with stomas to meet and discuss ideas has so far been a success, it has asserted.

The online resource, called stoma-innovation.com, was launched on February 16th 2009 and there are already 700 registered users, 200 message posts and nearly 80 innovative ideas on it.

Peter Kragh, director of innovation and ostomy care marketing at Coloplast, has been closely involved with the development of the site.

He explained users can submit and discuss ideas with others, which can be beneficial as people may receive different views on a problem and bring them together to form a single solution.

“It’s about the people that use the product being part of its development,” Mr Kragh commented.

“They have what I call ‘sticky information’, that unarticulated experience that can really make a difference to a product and, in-turn, a user.”

People who log on to the site have the opportunity to upload pictures and videos if they can not find the words to express their ideas.

Currently, users are being invited to think up solutions for a four-year-old boy who wants to have a paediatric stoma bag with images of Spiderman or pirates.
