Community pharmacists are part of the UK’s new COVID-19 testing programme

The Pharmaceutical Services Negotiation Committee has announced that community pharmacists will be part of the brand-new COVID-19 testing programme. The programme will prioritise NHS staff control in emergency departments, critical care and ambulance services needed to isolate at home.

Boots UK has also mentioned providing training for workers, but the training will not be carried out in the stores.

Managing Director at Boots UK, Sebastian James, stated: “‘Drive through test locations are being defined but will be spread across the UK – they will not, however, be in Boots stores, allowing our colleagues to focus on supporting our patients and customers.”
