Community pharmacists will administer the COVID-19 vaccine to house-bound patients

Twenty-two community pharmacists will administer the COVID-19 vaccine to roughly one-thousand and five-hundred households in South Tyneside, over the coming month, due to the patients being house-bound.

The vaccinations will occur across South Shields, Cleadon, Hebburn, Jarrow, Whitburn and Boldon, using the Oxford and AstraZeneca vaccine.

A pharmacist based in Jarrow, Louise Lydon, stated: “We’re really excited to get started. Patients will get a phone call to notify them 3 or 4 days before their jab. The pharmacists will arrive wearing NHS ID and will be happy to help if you have questions.”
