Cook Medical adds 25-gauge needle to EchoTip ProCore range

Cook Medical has announced the addition of a 25-gauge option to its EchoTip ProCore line of fine-needle biopsy histology products.

The range of needles – which are used in endoscopic ultrasound procedures – has been expanded with the addition of the smallest gauge option on the market designed for histological and cytological samples.

Studies have shown that it can enable a single-pass diagnosis of 88 percent in suspected tumours of the pancreas when examining both histological and cytological yields, while no complications were seen in any patients.

The new device has been made available across most major global markets this month.

Last month, the Cook Group announced the launch of a new company called Cook General BioTechnology, a cellular therapy-oriented business unit created using the recently acquired assets of General BioTechnology.
