Cook Medical launches cricothyrotomy surgical set
Cook Medical has launched a new compact surgical set that expands its cricothyrotomy offering to encompass Cannot Intubate, Cannot Ventilate scenarios.
In response to a recent NAP4 report addressing the clinical need for both Seldinger and surgical cricothyrotomy procedures to be taught side-by-side, the company has introduced the new set to allow clinicians to stay up-to-date with the latest medical developments.
Building on the firm's experience in designing products for Seldinger and emergency airway procedures, the surgical set is specifically packaged for procedural use and ideal for smaller workspaces.
It can also be easily transported in medical kit bags and packs, making it as easy as possible to perform life-saving procedures in emergency scenarios.
Dan Sirota, vice-president and global business unit leader for Cook Medical's critical care division, said: "We built a business on designing products for Seldinger procedures, but recognised that our customers have different needs."
This comes after the firm commenced a trial last month assessing the benefits of treating symptomatic iliofemoral venous outflow obstruction with the Zilver Vena venous self-expanding stent.
