Cook Medical opens new European distribution centre
Cook Medical has announced the launch of a new 15 million euro (12 million pounds) distribution centre in Baesweiler, Germany.
The new facility will act as the company's delivery hub for all European countries, providing easy access to Europe's largest freight airport Cologne/Bonn, which is located around one hour away.
It has a total storage surface of 5,850 sq m and will be capable of stocking up to 800,000 products, with more than 500,000 packages expected to be shipped from the centre to over 100 countries each year.
Moreover, the site has been classified as being 18.8 percent more energy efficient than the minimum requirements set out in the German Energy Saving Standards, thanks to its high-quality materials, solar panels and advanced insulation.
Bill Doherty, vice-president for Cook Medical's EMEA operations, said: "This is an important step in achieving our aim to enhance patient care, both with our medical solutions and our streamlined distribution network."
Last month, the company established a new otolaryngology/head and neck surgery division, thus allowing it to bring products to new patient demographics.
