Covance partners with CARE to support Rwandan development

5th December 2007

Covance has partnered with CARE to support a joint Early Childhood Development Initiative for Orphans and Vulnerable People.

The global drug development services company will help transform three existing buildings into community day care centres and renovate two existing nursery schools, in Rwanda.

Donald Kraft, Covance corporate senior vice president of Human Resources, said: "CARE and Covance share the core belief that education is fundamental in alleviating poverty around the world.

"We are honoured to partner with CARE in its efforts to bridge the educational, social, and developmental gap among the most vulnerable children in Rwanda".

He added that the dedication and professionalism of the CARE team was "outstanding".

Elie Nduwayesu, the programme’s manager, said that CARE had been "truly impressed" with the support and contributions Covance had offered to the project.

Meanwhile, Covance recently agreed to sell its centralized ECG business to eResearch Technology (eRT).

The company will also enter into a ten-year contract to offer its clients cardiac safety services through eRT’s centralized ECG platform.
