Covidien launches alarm management system
Covidien has launched an alarm management system to help medical staff provide the highest level of quality care possible.
The product is designed for use with the Nellcor OxiMax N-600x pulse oximeter ? which is able to deliver accurate and reliable readings to examine whether or not patients are having respiratory problems.
By recording breathing patterns, the alarm will alert clinicians if the patient has shown any worrying trends. This then allows nurses and doctors to make informed decisions about what course of action is best.
Chris Lowery, general manager and vice-president of patient monitoring at the company behind the device, explained health care environments are increasingly more demanding and this product will help staff.
“At the core of Covidien’s innovation is our goal to continue providing solutions designed to improve patient safety, medical efficacy and healthcare efficiency,” he remarked.
At the end of last month, the healthcare product company announced the introduction of the Puritan Bennett 540 Portable ventilator.
Chris Hutchison, vice-president and global general manager for sleep and oxygen products at the firm, said the device gives users “confidence and security”.
