CVS Group has announced its acquisition of Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital, Cork, a dedicated small animal referral practice, and a centre of excellence for both referrals and first opinion patients.
Simon Innes, CEO at CVS, said: “We are pleased to announce our second acquisition in the Republic of Ireland this summer. This practice is already well known to TV viewers in Ireland and around the world as the home of RTÉ’s The Pet Surgeons, and we are looking forward to a long, successful, happy and productive partnership with Gilabbey.”
Shane Guerin, Pat O’Doherty and Tom Conway, the current owners, will stay with the practice with the former remaining as clinical director. Mr Guerin said: “The ever-expanding range of new equipment and resources required to continue to provide a top-class small animal first opinion and specialist referral service is a very big challenge. This new partnership will now secure and support our exciting development plans long into the future. This new partnership has immediately enabled us to invest in a new CT machine, which will be installed over the coming months in Gilabbey, along with other state-of-the-art veterinary equipment, which will significantly enhance the quality and range of services we offer in Gilabbey. We look forward to introducing a dedicated 24-hour emergency care service in the very near future.”
