Daiichi Sankyo expands access to clinical trial data
Daiichi Sankyo is to make its clinical study data available to researchers in order to encourage scientific discoveries.
Trial data is to be made available to qualified researchers through the clinicalstudydatarequest.com system, allowing scientists to submit research proposals requesting data from Daiichi Sankyo-sponsored trials for EU and US-approved medicines.
The company will provide data for approved medicines and indications from January 1st 2014 onward, with access to be mediated by an independent review panel. Information will be anonymised to protect patient privacy and delivered via a secure electronic environment.
Dr Mahmoud Ghazzi, global head of development for Daiichi Sankyo, said: "Sharing clinical data from trials sponsored by Daiichi Sankyo with qualified researchers helps foster additional scientific insights and provides a mechanism for further understanding of our medicines, which ultimately is a benefit to patient healthcare."
The firm already registers studies and discloses clinical trial results according to local and regional laws and requirements, as part of its responsibilities as a member of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.
