Daiichi Sankyo launches osteoporosis campaign

10th March 2009

Daiichi Sankyo has launched a campaign encouraging women to take control of their bone health.

Across Europe, females have a 30 to 50 per cent of suffering an osteoporotic fracture during their lifetime.

Exercise, calcium and vitamin D ? ideally from sunlight ? is important in preventing this bone disease occurring, according to the company.

The scheme intends to promote holistic ways of averting the illness and it began on March 8th to coincide with International Women’s Day.

Chief executive officer of the firm in Europe Reinhard Bauer explained this date celebrates the achievements of females and aims to inspire them in the future.

He commented: “Daiichi Sankyo hopes sharing its knowledge of fighting osteoporosis will empower women of all ages to take control of their bone health.”

In other news, the firm took over 42 employees from Merck Serono this month in a move to strengthen its cardiometabolic sales force in Italy.

Under the terms of the agreement, the former also secured the marketing rights from the latter for the products Congescor and Pluscor.
