Dako launches new H and E staining solution
Dako has launched a new system designed to make the process of haematoxylin and eosin (H and E) staining more efficient and cost-effective.
The science company's new Dako CoverStainer is an automated instrument which combines the entire H and E staining process from baking through to coverslipping, allowing cancer diagnoses to be delivered more quickly.
It is capable of processing up to 240 H and E slides per hour, producing the first results in 46 minutes, faster than any other unit in its class.
Dako states that this will help pathology laboratories to save time and meet the needs of patients, as H and E staining represents a key first step in the cancer diagnostic process.
Lars Holmkvist, Dako's chief executive officer, said: "We are trying to help the laboratory with the most efficient means, so they can control the lab at the highest level of quality and deliver fast answers to the patients."
Last month, Dako entered into a new partnership with Philips to develop new digital pathology technology, with the collaboration initially set to focus on tissue-based breast cancer diagnosis.
