Dako partners with AstraZeneca for cancer treatment developments

Dako, provider of scientific products, has revealed the details of a partnership it has forged with AstraZeneca, which will see the companies collaborate to develop companion diagnostic tests for multiple AstraZeneca oncology projects.

The agreement, which includes biologics and small molecules, aims to provide physicians with greater assistance when it comes to evaluating the most appropriate cancer treatments.

Financial terms of the contract were not included in the announcement.

Lars Holmkvist, chief executive officer of Dako Denmark AS, said: “Targeted treatment with personalised medicine is the future and the outcome of this collaboration will be beneficial not only for cancer patients, but also as a significant contributive factor in cutting healthcare costs.”

Dako, which has subsidiaries in 20 countries, specialises in pathology and works to improve cancer diagnostics and boost their reliability and quality.

It employs 1,000 individuals worldwide, with 15 per cent of these working in its research and development department.
