Dako’s HER2 IQFISH pharmDx shows breast cancer diagnosis benefits

Dako has announced positive findings from an independent study of the benefits and advantages associated with its HER2 IQFISH pharmDx offering.

The research has provided evidence to support the use and performance of the HER2 IQFISH pharmDx tool for HER2 gene amplification status assessment in breast cancer. Conducted by a breast cancer group in Toulouse, the study has appeared in the Journal of Histopathology.

It showed that the product can offer high-quality signals without any background staining, allowing excellent reading conditions. It also notes that IQFISH is a safe, reliable and fast method that is easy to use in routine practice, with few reruns needed.

IQFISH hybridisation buffer chemistry was introduced by Dako in 2012 and is able to reduce test turnaround time from 17 hours to just 3.5 hours.

Britt Meelby Jensen, Dako's general manager and vice-president, said: "We understand that the speed and accuracy of patient sample processing and the quality of test performance affect the treatment decisions and outcome for patients."

This comes after the company agreed to develop companion diagnostic tests for oncology drugs on behalf of Merck Sharp and Dohme last month.
