Data Shows AstraZeneca Hired the Most Scientific Talent in 2022 and March is Peak Time for Pharma Recruitment

Job roles within the laboratory sector were revealed to be the most sought after across the Life Sciences. This is according to a review published this year based on 2022 data covering the UK’s Life Science recruitment industry.

Last year in England and Wales, there were 11,200 new specialised scientific job openings. The largest number of these were for laboratory, where there were more than 1,000 new openings.

Within lab, various data was pulled.

March was picked out as the busiest month for hiring scientists within the pharmaceutical industry

Research & Development followed behind laboratory but did appear to decrease compared to the previous year by 10%.

In general, the majority of scientific tasks declined, particularly Clinical Projects and Clinical Management, which fell by 40% and almost 31%.

With more than 1,000 new scientific job openings, AstraZeneca recruited the most UK scientific talent across 2022. Achieving a 3.7% annual rate of increase.

For the third year in a row, the southern areas had the most vacancies advertised, with London coming in second.

Pharmaceuticals spiked in March, although January demonstrated the most significant monthly increase at almost 47%.

Cpl UK Healthcare’s Chief Executive Officer, Yvette Cleland, stressed that “more focus should be placed on better leveraging strong international relationships and opportunities to create better conditions and channels for trade.”

Going into the future, around 150 professional positions are predicted to be generated at Moderna’s UK mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility, which is set to commence operation in 2025.
