Dechra gains international recognition for environmental standards

Dechra Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing has announced that it has recently been able to achieve ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Standard Certification following an independent assessment.

The British Assessment Bureau, a leading certification body, deemed that the company has demonstrated good environmental controls that have reduced its impact on the environment, allowing it to attain the internationally-recognised certification.

ISO14001:2004 requires that companies have a policy and action plan for managing their impact on the environment, and that they are committed to a programme of continuous improvement, reviewed annually to ensure progress is maintained.

Dechra was able to meet these targets by reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill, enhancing its recycling policies and minimising its carbon footprint.

Managing director Mike Annice said: "We are really pleased to have achieved ISO 14001 certification. It underlines our commitment to our customers and our focus on protecting the environment."

Dechra Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing operates sites in Skipton in the UK and Bladel in the Netherlands. It produces various medicines for veterinary and human use.
