Dechra launches new website to support dogs with Addison’s disease

7th October 2016

Dechra has announced the launch of a new website, www.myaddisonsdog.co.uk, to help support owners of dogs with Addison's disease.

The interactive resource offers a range of information to help dog owners understand the condition and monitor their pet's progress, with sections describing the disease's signs and symptoms, plus guidance on how it is diagnosed and treated.

Owners can also sign up for an interactive treatment logbook to chart the progress of their pet's treatment with therapies such as Dechra's Zycortal, offering reassurance on how their animal is responding.

Craig Sankey, brand manager for Dechra Veterinary Products, said: "Management of the condition can be challenging and the dedicated website aims to support veterinary professionals in their ongoing treatment of pets with this condition."

Addison's disease is also known as canine hypoadrenocorticism and is caused by a reduction in corticosteroid secretion from the adrenal glands. Symptoms can include vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, reduced appetite, tremors, muscle weakness, low heart rate and collapse.

Zycortal is the only licensed treatment for the condition in Europe and was launched by Dechra earlier this year.
