Dechra research illustrates benefits of Specific CJD Joint Support diet

8th September 2010

Dechra Veterinary Products has published data from a study which illustrates the benefits of its Specific CJD Joint Support diet for canines affected by osteoarthritis.

The animal health company tested the product on 55 adult dogs with clinical signs of osteoarthritis for ten weeks, while monitoring behaviour and the progress of the condition.

It was found that 87 per cent of animals showed an improvement in their osteoarthritis condition as a result of the diet, which provides high levels of beneficial agents such as omega-3, L-carnitine and manganese.

Moreover, when assessed using the Helsinki chronic pain index, it was also noted that the dogs saw an improvement in terms of signs of pain when fed using the Dechra diet.

The company said this shows the benefit its diet can provide in treating a condition which is estimated to affect around 20 per cent of the adult canine population in Europe.

Dechra also announced this week that it has awarded three prizes to veterinary science students at the University of Bristol, as part of its continuing commitment to supporting future industry professionals.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800056796-ADNFCR
