Dentaid Charity Steps in Following NHS Inaccessibility

The campaign group ‘Toothless’ has criticised the English administration as an increasing number of patients are unable to see a dentist on the NHS. Dentaid (a charitable organisation) is setting up a dental clinic on wheels in Leiston, Suffolk and Bury St Edmunds in the next few days to help those who have struggled to see a dentist on the NHS.

From 10.00- 16.00, local volunteers made up of dental professionals will help provide a free service for those individuals who are experiencing discomfort and require fillings or teeth to be removed.

The Toothless movement started in Suffolk; led by Steve Marsling they managed to convince local authorities to financially contribute to Dentaids’ arrival.

Steve Marsling has branded the situation a “National disgrace,” stating that “We shouldn’t have to rely on charity.”

He continued: “Governments have neglected NHS dentistry for far too long. People are queuing up begging for treatment outside a mobile clinic run by a charity set up to help treat people in developing countries. The NHS we know and love isn’t there for us anymore.”
