Dentex, the new wave of dental corporates?

15th March 2019

Many partnering dentists of Dentex say it’s not a corporate, because it is not privately owned and Dentex dentists are shareholders so they benefit financially when the company is profitable. Either way, this newcomer to the market focusses on clinical freedom, the patient journey, a higher standard of care overall, and growth that comes from the patient experience.
Dentex operates in a collaborative way with a structure that allows all of the team to be recognised, fulfilled and empowered as an individual, focusing on the strengths of that individual. It encourages the dentists to take out a lot of the work that doesn’t relate directly to patient care, clinical staff to upskill, and the practice manager to become an outstanding business manager as they fulfil their pivotal role of running and growing the practice.
Rob Paxman, Director of Partnering, said: “Often, when companies want to boost profits, the first thing they look at is cutting costs because that’s the easiest way to do it. In dentistry that tends to put restrictions on the business, whether it’s by cutting staffing, limiting materials, or prescribing laboratories, for example. We don’t take that approach. The profit in our business plan comes from everyone being aligned and working towards the same goal. We are very much of the belief that these practices have gotten to where they are because of what they’ve got. If we start messing around with that, we’re going to upset people, and it’s going to change the dynamics of the practice, and that’s not what we want to do.”
