Dentsply hails underlying strength in second quarter of 2015

4th August 2015

Dentsply has voiced satisfaction with its financial results for the second quarter of 2015, during which it delivered record results despite tough trading conditions.

Net sales for the quarter came to $698 million (447.03 million pounds), which marked a year-on-year decline of 8.8 percent in reported terms, but also reflected underlying constant currency growth of 3.2 percent.

A negative headwind from foreign currency translation was the main reason for the nominal decline, while the firm was also able to achieve a record adjusted earnings total of $0.73 per diluted share, up by six percent on the same point last year.

Based on its first-half results, its recent strength in the US market and the relative stability of the European dental market, Dentsply is increasing its full-year adjusted earnings guidance to the range of $2.54 to $2.62 per diluted share – up from $2.50 to $2.60 per share previously.

Bret Wise, Dentsply's chairman and chief executive officer, said the second-quarter performance "gives us increased confidence as we begin the next phase of our global efficiency and investment programme".ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801796543-ADNFCR
