Dentsply SDR composite base wins praise from clinicians

Dentsply's bulk-fill flowable composite base SDR (Smart Dentine Replacement) has been met with a warm reception from UK clinicians since its introduction.

The product is currently in use among more than 2,000 dentists in the UK and thousands more worldwide, winning praise for its low incidence of microleakage and incredible internal cavity, reports Dentistry.co.uk.

Dr Roel Bester, from the Treetops Dental Surgery in Norwich, said he has come to enjoy working with the material and now uses it as a base in all posterior composite fillings.

He praised the composite base for its strong filling performance and excellent flow, as well as the fact that clinicians can easily see how it settles into a prepared cavity.

"I have not had one patient complain of postoperative sensitivity. SDR is definitely a material I would recommend to other dentists," added Dr Bester.

Other advertised benefits of the material include the fact it does not need to be layered in the same way as more conventional products, allowing dentists to achieve time savings of up to 40 percent.
