Dentsply Sirona wins Red Dot award for CEREC SpeedFire sintering furnace

Dentsply Sirona has announced that its CEREC SpeedFire sintering furnace has been handed a Red Dot award for its design qualities.

The device is part of the CEREC Zirconia workflow that enables dentists to offer their patients chairside restorations using the high-performance material zirconium oxide, allowing restorations to be sintered in less than 15 minutes using induction technology.

According to the 41-member jury adjudicating the awards, the "efficient interplay between the CEREC SpeedFire's open and closed shape and rounded and straight lines" was a key quality that helped the device to earn this award.

It is the smallest and fastest sintering furnace on the market and has proven a considerable success in the five months since its launch, with the 1,000th furnace having already been manufactured.

This comes after the firm won the Red Dot award in the life science and medicine category for its SIROLaser Blue handpiece last month.

The jury for the Red Dot awards is made up of independent designers, design professors and journalists, with a total of 5,214 products evaluated across 31 categories.
