DiaSorin agrees product collaboration with Meridian
DiaSorin has agreed to a new collaboration with Meridian into the development of a new addition to its Liaison range of chemiluminescense detection-based random access systems.
The agreement will see DiaSorin utilise technology from Meridian to create a gastrointestinal panel for use with Liaison, allowing for the creation of a wider range of tests for infectious diseases.
It intends for the first two products to be developed under this arrangement to be tests for the detection of the common hospital infection Clostridium difficile and Helicobacter pylori, which causes stomach ulcers and cancers.
Meridian will take responsibility for distributing all products developed under this collaboration in the US and UK, with DiaSorin granted distribution rights in all other territories.
Carlo Rosa, chief executive officer of DiaSorin, said this will help the company to “underscore its position as a specialist in the area of infectious diseases”.
Last month, DiaSorin completed a deal to acquire the Murex line of HIV, HCV and HBV diagnostic products, which was created by healthcare company Abbott.
