Diasorin to license Eiken’s LAMP technology
Diasorin have signed an agreement to enter into the licensing of Eiken’s gene amplification technology Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP).
This would allow Diasorin to develop, manufacture and commercialise worldwide nucleic acid testing kits.
According to the company, molecular diagnostics is the fastest growing market segment of vitro diagnostics, growing by nearly ten per cent each year.
Having access to the LAMP technology and focusing upon infectious disease could allow Diasorin to fully develop a fully automated platform for molecular diagnostic tests by 2011.
Carlo Rosa, Diasorin’s chief executive officer, said that the agreement, "represents another milestone to enter into the promising field of molecular diagnostic."
"With this agreement, together with the experience we have built in our research group since the acquisition of the Gamida Sense’s assets in 2003, we now own all the technological assets and know-how necessary to pursue the development of an innovative platform for NAT in the field of Infectious Disease," she continued.
Diasorin develops, produces and distributes immunoreagent kits for clinical diagnostics, in 60 countries worldwide.
