DiaSorin to provide hepatitis training for employees

DiaSorin states that it is to provide training to healthcare workers who perform public health, clinical and environmental laboratory testing.

The training will be presented via audio or web conference, with 500 laboratory professionals having attended the first conference earlier this year.

Hepatitis infection, though preventable, is still a threat to many people in the world, with 1.25 million people thought to suffer Hepatitis B in the US alone.

Karen Breckenridge, knowledge manager of the National Laboratory Training Network (NLTN), said: "It is imperative that laboratory professionals understand new methods in place for testing to detect and defend the public against life-threatening infectious diseases such as hepatitis."

"We are pleased that DiaSorin, with their many years of experience in research, development and manufacturing of in-vitro diagnostic testing for hepatitis A, B and C, is partnering with the NLTN to provide these hepatitis training programs," she added

A further NLTN-sponsored conference is to be held in June 2007.

Earlier this year, DiaSorin introduced what it described the first fully-automated chemiluminescent immunoassay for the detection of previous infection of varicella-zoster.
