DoH announces third sector scheme

The Department of Health (DoH) has announced a scheme to improve the way it works with third sector organisations.

Called the Third Sector Strategic Partner Programme, the government body has teamed up with the likes of the Race Equality Foundation, Age Concern and the Men’s Health Forum.

The money will go towards raising awareness of health inequalities across the division, promoting how medical emergencies could affect people in certain demographics and improve the way the sector operates in different regions.

Minister for care services Phil Hope explained the organisations taking part in the scheme are involved in many areas of healthcare.

These roles vary from providing front line services to support for patients and carers, he added.

“The Strategic Partner Programme will play a vital role in supporting and engaging third sector organisations to work in partnership with the NHS, to deliver better health and social care services for everyone,” Mr Hope remarked.

Earlier this month, the DoH launched a new website ? the Social Partnership Forum ? that will serve as an online platform to improve working relationships between those working in the NHS.
