Dr Reddy’s launches acne treatment

30th April 2009

Dr Reddy’s has launched an anti-acne formulation.

The product ? called Nexret (Tretinoin) ? marks the entry of the company into the topical anti-acne segment.

It is designed to treat the condition that is commonly diagnosed by dermatologists and uses a proprietary non-porous microsphere technology.

The product ? which is considered one of the most effective drugs to treat the skin condition – is available to buy in gel formulation in pack sizes of 15 grams.

Dr Reddy’s commented on the treatment: “This unique technology minimises irritation associated with drugs like Tretinoin and provides controlled delivery of drug to the skin.”

The technology has been developed internally and patent applications have been filed in seven countries.

Meanwhile, the firm has also recently launched another product – Redispar (Doxercalciferol).

It is a treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism caused by chronic kidney disease.

Headquartered in India, Dr Reddy’s has wholly-owned subsidiaries in the UK, Germany, Russia, Brazil and the US.

It also has a number of joint ventures in China, South Africa and Australia.
