Ecolab launches ChillBuster Portable Patient Warming System

23rd March 2009

Ecolab has launched the ChillBuster Portable Patient Warming System, which reduces the risk of patient complications associated with hypothermia.

The portable, lightweight device can be operated by battery or AC power and has already been used on military battlefields for several years.

Disposable blanket covers decreases risk and cost efficacy while reducing the burden of washing and disinfecting cotton blankets used in conjunction with blanket warmers, the company stated.

Susan Nestegard, executive vice-president of Global Healthcare, explained that consistent management of patent body temperature is critical before, during and after surgery.

“The effective level of thermoregulation provided by ChillBuster stabilises patient body temperature and reduces the effects of hypothermia, infection and many associated complications,” she commented.

ChillBuster can provide patients with the care they require whenever and wherever they need it, Ms Nestergard concluded.

Now with over 26,000 employees across the globe, Ecolab was founded in 1923. It has been issued with 4,000 patents worldwide.

Its direct operations are in around 70 countries and a further 100 locations are reached though distributors, licensees and export operations.
