Edelman appoints new healthcare associate director

Edelman has appointed Peter Zarko-Flynn as the new associate director of its senior healthcare team, a role which will see him work with a number of its biggest pharmaceutical clients.

Mr Zarko-Flynn, who was formerly the head of media at Cancer Research UK, will handle the marketing agency’s accounts with AstraZeneca and Janssen among other responsibilities, reports PRWeek.

The executive has worked in the field of journalism and healthcare communications for 15 years and was most recently employed as the associate director for Axon Communications.

In his role at Cancer Research UK, he oversaw a high-profile national campaign to raise awareness of skin cancer, as well the organisation’s award-winning initiative to lobby for a ban on smoking in public areas.

This comes after Edelman last month appointed Kajsa Wilhelmsson as director of its European health public affairs division.

She is also working with AstraZeneca in her new role, as well as other major Edelman clients such as Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline.
