Edelman names non-executive chairman for EMEA operations

Edelman has selected Bjorn Edlund to become the new non-executive chairman of its operations in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Mr Edlund will join the company in October 2011 and is set to act as a senior counsellor both for clients and Edelman's staff, drawing upon two decades of experience in the public relations field.

He is the former communications chief of Shell and has worked with companies including Sandoz and ABB, while he has also spent the last 12 months serving as a senior adviser to fellow marketing agency Burson-Marsteller.

Edelman's EMEA chief executive officer Robert Phillips told The Holmes Report: "We believe that Bjorn brings both greater depth and new dimensions to the team and what we offer. His experience speaks for itself."

Last month, the company was honoured with a record total of seven trophies at The Holmes Report's Pan-European Sabre Awards, claiming the title of EMEA Digital Agency of the Year.
