Edelman UK head to lead EMEA operations

Edelman has announced that Robert Phillips has been appointed as the new president and chief executive officer (CEO) of its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operations.

Mr Phillips will leave his current position as CEO of Edelman in the UK in order to assume responsibility for the region, which is Edelman's second-largest in global terms.

He originally joined the marketing agency more than six years ago when it acquired Jackie Cooper PR and has been credited with helping Edelman UK to achieve a 55 percent business growth rate since he became CEO in May 2007.

The new EMEA head said: "Edelman is a firm that continues to define the future of communications. I am thrilled to be taking my next career step here."

Edelman UK chief operating officer and deputy CEO Susan Eastoe has been appointed as Mr Phillips' acting replacement until a full-time successor can be found.

Last month, the company won three prizes at the 2010 European Excellence Awards in Prague, including the title of European media agency of the year.
